LoganLetter #67 (June 2009)

Text Box: Praise the Lord for more fruit!
This month we have seen two older ladies respond after the morning preaching service and receive Christ as personal Savior.  We thank the blessed Lord that the mother of a lady who was saved four months ago came to church saying she needed to be sure of her eternal destination as her daughter had done earlier.  This lady is in her sixties.  Also, the grandmother of Ioana (a girl that the Sutek family and our family have basically adopted since her mother left Romania a year ago) came to church and walked the aisle during the invitation and said she trusted Christ as Savior (picture below).  Pray that this fruit will remain.  Eastern Europe is not a place where souls are seen saved on a regular basis, especially Romanians, but the last two months have been wellsprings of souls.  For those of you who pray for and support us, this is fruit that is added to your account.
Our personal evangelism efforts remain at full speed.  During a recent attempt of declaring the gospel in a new village (picture above), we experienced devil-possessed persons violently seeking to stop the power of the gospel.  Mad wild women began screaming and pushing us to try and stop the singing, tracts, and preaching.  A large crowd was on hand.  We met this resistance with bolder preaching of the word of God.  Why is it that the Christians are the ones who normally back down and quieten up?  The police showed up and kindly asked us to hurry and finish because they sincerely thought that the mob would “stone” us.  These were their words.   We finished, and as we left I had someone from the crowd approach me in response to my preaching to ask whether or not I was drunk.  Not much has changed since Acts 2 has it?  No one was saved, but we all must remember that sometimes God commissions us to stand in opposition to evil as a witness against them.  It is not always fruitfulness in the ministry of the word.  Judgment has its purpose as well.  This is why success-oriented ministry is of the devil.  The life and work of the prophets of God has always been at the discretion of the Lord.  He has different purposes for the truth.  The same Sun that melts the ice also hardens the clay.  Let us faithfully occupy and do our duty until Jesus comes and leave the results to Him.  Is it not interesting that in the last two months that we have seen several people saved, we have also had such an encounter of rejection?  Blessed be the name of the Lord!  May He be pleased whatever the outcome.
The work on the property for Brasov Independent Baptist Church continues each month.  We still desire to build an addition for bathrooms, Sunday School rooms, and a nursery.  This takes a step at a time, and we are trusting the Lord to provide wisdom and material needs for it all.
 Glad I’m in the fight (I Tim.6:12, II Tim.4:7, I Cor.9: 26, Ps.144:1),
