LoganLetter #51 (February 2008)
Will you pray for us??? Will you pray with us???
While there is no doubt the giving of your money aids greatly in the propagation of the gospel around the world, the importance of the giving of your sustaining prayers can be a most undervalued and often overlooked commodity. Let me be clear. We cannot propagate the gospel, plant churches, grow churches, and do the work of the ministry effectively against the onslaught of the enemy without your fervent prayers for us. We need them. We must have them. I was taught many years ago that the problem most people have in this world is that they have no one to pray for them. The majority of lives are lived in chaos and failure because no one has ever spent any time interceding on their behalf. I know you would join me in saying your life (if blessed and used by God) has been a by-product of many prayers offered on your behalf. In my case, the life I live in the flesh was bathed in prayer before my birth, during my childhood, continually in my teenage years, and subsequently, throughout my ministry. It is no understatement to say that my debt to my godly heritage concerning their prayers for me surmounts any labour or accomplishment I could attain with the help of the Lord. I am not saying all of this because we are in dire straits or have obstacles which are pressing upon us but because we are engaged in so many areas of service, we desperately need the power, touch, and blessing of God. Without prayer behind these efforts, we will have just busy, hollow, time-consuming endeavours.
Sunday - start all over by the grace of God....
Now I do not list the above just to prove we are at work (which is not a bad idea considering what goes on in the name of missions around the world), and certainly not to boast of our doings, BUT this is put before your eyes so you will know we can do NOTHING WELL without your prayers and the energy of God’s Spirit behind it. You need to know these things so you will know how to pray. Thank you in advance for this. The average Romanian has never had anyone pray for them who really knew how to get in touch with God. The average village or town in Eastern Europe has never had any real intercession. Again, thank you!
Always needing prayers for the labour in the harvest,
